Motorcycling

One of the most exciting ways to see the Black Hills is on the back of a chromed-out bike. Close to Sturgis, home of the famous annual rally, Spearfish is a popular motorcycling destination for its scenic drives.
Routes can lead through Spearfish Canyon, or you can venture farther into the Black Hills, traveling through the granite spires of Needles Highway, under scenic tunnels that frame Mount Rushmore National Monument or into state parks where the buffalo roam.
Motorcycle rentals are available in Spearfish and the surrounding areas. Also be sure to rent or buy helmets and the appropriate riding gear for your trip.
Sturgis Rally
Spearfish is located about 20 miles from Sturgis, making it a popular place to stay during the city’s annual Sturgis Rally. More than 400,000 bikers populate the Black Hills during rally week, so finding accommodations can be tricky.
Spearfish Harley Connection connects bikers with local homeowners who rent out their private properties to rally goers. Hotels, motels and lodges around Spearfish also serve as comfortable resting places, along with campgrounds and rental homes.
