Dog Friendly Hangouts in Spearfish
When you want to go places with the whole family, you mean WHOLE family. Dogs are special members of the household and, just like us, they want to get out and roam around, see the sights, and be with their favorite human. So, whether you’re going out to eat, hang with friends or need some exercise, this time don’t leave you four-legged friends’ home, instead, bring them along!
Parks
Take your dog up the trails on Crow Peak or Lookout Mountain. Lead them along the paths throughout Spearfish Canyon, but if you are looking for a place for your dog to burn off some energy in town, check out our dog parks. While Spearfish has plenty of wide-open spaces and parks to choose from, City of Spearfish Dog Park located at 1034 Roughlock Lane is just the spot for your furry friend to burn off some energy. With doggy bags located below the park sign, there’s plenty of open green space to play fetch or sit down a read with your dog right beside you.
Just got done shopping downtown? Located at 414 State Street is a fenced in area for your dogs to run around and meet some other canine friends. Dogs of all sizes can roam around off leash. There’s specific fenced in areas for small dogs and large dogs. Plus, it’s close to downtown, so you can take your dog on a nice walk and then let them off leash at the park.
Campgrounds
Here camping and looking for a dog-friendly spot? There’s plenty of campground all around Spearfish that allow dogs to stay too! Dogs must always remain on their leash, and while there may be an extra fee to include your dog on the reservation, these spots are great places for your four-legged friends to enjoy the camping air and outdoors. Restaurants
Want to check out all the local breweries, restaurants and coffeehouses in Spearfish but don’t want to leave you playful pooch behind? Not to worry, because many local spots in Spearfish allow dogs in the outdoor seating and patio area. Some of these spots you might even be able to get a cup of whipped cream or dog treats for your pup while you enjoy your own tasty meal.

Events
Specialty events like Downtown Friday Nights, the Fourth of July Parade, Holidazzle Lights Parade, Black Hills Corvette Classic and the Black Hills Camaro Rally allow for the whole family to come downtown. That includes the four-legged members, as dogs are allowed to come to these fun-filled signature events but must remain on leash at all times.
Are you a fan of America’s pastime? The Spearfish Sasquatch baseball team is a hit in the summertime and one night in the summer its ‘Bark in the Park’ where you dog is welcome to join you for a fun time at the ballpark cheering on the Spearfish Sasquatch team.
Does your pooch love to go for a swim? Spearfish Rec Center puts on “Dog Days at the Water Park” right before the pools are drained after its summer season. Dogs of all sizes are welcome to swim around, catch tennis balls in the water and enjoy time with their owners. The water park goes to the dogs as the water is only for them to enjoy and play in.
