Devils Tower is a laccolithic butte composed of igneous rock in the Bear Lodge Mountains near Sundance, WY. This astounding geologic feature that protrudes out of the rolling prairie surrounding the Black Hills is considered sacred to the Northern Plains Indians and other tribes.
