As temperatures begin to drop, holiday spirit grows and in Spearfish, there is no shortage of just that! The holiday season starts off with the annual chili feed. A few business from the Downtown Business Association decided to come together for a chili feed in the name of holiday cheer, and it has become an amazing kickstart to the snowy season.
Although it is hosted at Common Grounds, one of the local coffee shops, many businesses lend a helping hand in making this event a possibility. The Bay Leaf Café is one of those businesses that are more than happy to jump on the opportunity. The Bay Leaf is tasked with the creation of the chili, but they have help from Lueders Food Center, who donates the beef to the occasion. This just names a few businesses that contribute to the event.
With this selfless collaboration between local businesses in Spearfish, this event is free! Known as a “Community Appreciation Event,” the local businesses want this to be a thank you to local community (and Visitors!)
Using this weekend as a holiday kickoff, the chili feed is planned in conjunction with the Holidazzle Light Parade. With the chili feed being located one block off of the parade route, this gives locals and visitors alike, a chance to enjoy the dazzling light displays after they fill their belly’s.
The chili feed and parade might seem like that is enough to fill you schedules, but it’s not all that Spearfish has to offer. The downtown businesses have spectacular Christmas specials as you search for the perfect gift and the Matthews Opera House is being visited by Santa Claus.
So, after you finish your morning of snowshoeing, snowmobiling, or ice climbing, be sure to bring your family to downtown Spearfish for some holiday cheer!
