Similar to hiking, biking to a popular activity in Spearfish, and it’s rare to have a day in Spearfish without seeing someone on a bike. Whether mountain biking on our famous single-track trails to casual rides along our 7-mile bike path – we’ll meet any type of biking you’re looking for.
Rock Climbing
Both experienced and novice rock climbers can enjoy the great climbing opportunities that Spearfish Canyon offers.
Kayaking
Wanting to take to the water? Spearfish Creek offers a fast-paced route through the Canyon and the city of Spearfish itself. Looking for something more serene less turbulent? Iron Creek Lake may be just what you’re looking for.

Skiing
Cross-country skiing is very popular in the Black Hills and our cross-country ski trails offer a scenic way to spend a winter day in Spearfish. If you’re looking for a more adrenaline-oriented form of skiing Spearfish is only a short drive to two of the best mountains for downhill skiing in the Black Hills.
Snowshoeing
Strap on your boots because Spearfish is a premier location for snowshoeing in the Black Hills.
Fatbiking
With snow on the ground, it doesn’t mean you have to put away your bicycle. Fat Bike riding is becoming more popular in the Black Hills and our groomed trail system is second-to-none in the Black Hills.
