Just off Exit 17, I-90, is the Elkhorn Ridge Golf Club. This course opened in 2009, starting with nine holes but expanded to eighteen a few years ago. The back side of the course is nestled in Centennial Valley. The course is a part of the Elkhorn Ridge RV Resort. Guests of the resort receive a discounted rate for a round. The Elkhorn Ridge course is home to the Miller Creek Pub, where golfers can kick start the day with pastries, breakfast items and quality mimosas.

The Clubhouse of Spearfish

As the sun gets higher in the sky and the temperatures start to rise, it is the perfect time for a mid-day cool down and some lunch. Just a couple of miles down the road from Elkhorn Ridge Golf Course - along Colorado Boulevard toward downtown Spearfish – is an indoor golf simulation venue called The Clubhouse of Spearfish. New to Spearfish in early 2020, The Clubhouse has a full food and beverage menu in additional to its simulators. For those wanting to work on their short game, there is an outdoor putting green that is free of charge to patrons. The Clubhouse even offers lessons if someone is new to the game. Wanting a break from golf? The Clubhouse entertains with several other simulators from baseball to zombie hunting.

Whether you just won the virtual World Series or saved the world from a zombie apocalypse over lunch, there is still time to get in one more round of your favorite outdoor pastime. Remaining on Colorado Boulevard and traveling another couple of miles, your trip will bring you to Spearfish Canyon Country Club. This picturesque course is situated at the mouth of Spearfish Canyon National Scenic Byway in the Black Hills National Forest. This course is one of the oldest golf courses is in South Dakota - established in 1921. Originally a nine-hole course, it was expanded to eighteen holes in 1988. The view does not disappoint. The course restaurant boasts a full menu of food and your favorite cocktails and is a great way to cap off a day in Spearfish.
