The HALF MARATHON is a road race down beautiful Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway featuring limestone canyon walls blanketed with coniferous and deciduous trees along Spearfish Creek. Runners begin in Savoy at 7 AM and follow Highway 14A, Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway, to the Spearfish City Park.
The 5K starts and end in the Spearfish City Park. Runners follow the road through the campground to and connect with the bike path to the Canyon parking lot, then head back down the scenic byway to reconnect with the bike path to end in the park.
Buses will be available to transport runners from the Spearfish City Park to the starting point of the half marathon beginning at 5:30 a.m. on July 12. The last bus will leave at 6:00 a.m. Participants are welcome to be dropped off at the starting point near Savoy
This event is an annual fundraiser (39th Year), which benefits abused and neglected children through the Northern Hills Area CASA Program.
