The 77th Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally officially begins on August 7 and continues until August 13.
Changing throughout the years, the Sturgis Rally has become more than just a motorcycle-lovers event. But that doesn’t mean motorcycles are out. In fact, one of the reasons the motorcycle rally continues to be the largest event in the Black Hills is not because of the music, food, and vendors – but rather because of the amazing rides a motorcyclist can enjoy and we’ve compiled a list of the best routes to enjoy:
Spearfish Canyon
A beloved favorite for all motorists, this roughly 20-mile stretch of serene beauty offers winding curves, majestic cliffsides, and glimpses of waterfalls. If you miss taking a trip down Spearfish Canyon, we truly believe you’re doing rally wrong!
Boulder Canyon
After cruising through Spearfish Canyon, we invite you to continue your journey through Deadwood and on through Boulder Canyon. This 12-mile ride offers a short but sweet ride from Deadwood to Sturgis.
Devils Tower
With the nation’s first National Monument only 60-miles away, Spearfish makes the perfect starting point for this scenic ride. Riders often complete their loop by stopping by the Center of the Nation Monument in Belle Fourche to the north.
If scenic rides are not your thing, perhaps a charity ride is! The Black Hills boasts several rides for rally-goers to participate in including two that begin right here in Spearfish: BHSU’s Jacket Ride, raising scholarship funds for student veterans; and the Freedom Celebration Ride, a military tribute ride that ends at the Buffalo Chip outside of Sturgis.
